An economical argument in Favor of designated bus stops.

No one likes having taxis drive to their own set of rules. Mostly out of jealousy more than any regard for fairness or safety. If you can't, why should they?

Because they do whatever's best for them, I'd like to propose the following suggestion: they would benefit immensely from designated stop and collect points.

It goes like this: Accelerating takes time and money. Time because you aren't going at your maximum speed, and money because it burns more petrol to gain speed than it does to maintain it. The same goes for braking. So speeding up and slowing down are not good for your overall expenditure, and the less you do of either, the less petrol and time is required, making the business of transporting people more cost effective and more efficient.

Therefore, if they reduce the number of stops they make, people will spend less time in their vehicles overall, and this will also reduce the operators overheads.

The obvious answer is to designate a pickup and drop off spot, just like regular buses use, and make your business more efficient, benefitting the owner, the customers, and the people you share the road with. If you know any taxi drivers, share my theory around, maybe it will catch on.
